Research Project for Free

I’ve been involved in a toxic power dynamic with a faculty member regarding an internship opportunity. They promised me a recommendation and a leg up in the industry in exchange for 'extra dedication' to their research projects, which basically means I’m doing their entire workload for free, and I’m too scared to speak up because they have the power to ruin my professional reputation before I’ve even started.
