IIT Madras BS programmes — Data Science and Electronic Systems (Sep 2026)

IIT Madras BS programmes for the September 2026 term are still taking qualifier applications on study.iitm.ac.in. This is not JoSAA, not JEE, not a residential B.Tech seat. IIT Madras runs flexible Bachelor of Science degrees (Data Science and Applications, Electronic Systems, and other BS tracks listed on that site) with online coursework and in-person quizzes, exams and labs. A hostel is not guaranteed. Fees, qualifier dates and eligibility on the institute site win.

September 2026 term — what the institute pages print

• Electronic Systems qualifier last date: 27 September 2026 on study.iitm.ac.in/es.
• Data Science and Applications qualifier last date: 27 September 2026 on study.iitm.ac.in/ds.
• Electronic Systems: qualifier week 1 starts 2 October 2026; qualifier exam listed as 15 November 2026 on the ES page.
• Electronic Systems eligibility: Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics, any age. Class 11 students may apply and join after passing Class 12.
• Data Science requirements are not identical — open the DS page before you pay.

You apply, pay the application fee IIT Madras lists, study four weeks of qualifier content, then sit the qualifier exam. Passing that exam is the door, not an IIT counselling rank. Multiple exit options (certificate / diploma / degree) are described on the institute site — read those, do not take them from a coaching ad.

Who should skip this

Skip this if you want a hostel B.Tech through JEE, if you cannot travel to an exam centre for quizzes and labs, or if you will miss 27 September 2026. Campus Reality is not an application portal and does not collect the fee. Other windows: admissions.
