​The Phantom Committee

I was appointed to a 'Student Grievance Redressal Committee' last year. We had one introductory meeting where the Dean took a photo with us for the institute's annual newsletter to prove they care about student welfare. We haven't been called for a single meeting since, despite multiple major student protests happening on campus. I finally realized my entire role was just to be a smiling face in a PDF.
