What SSC actually does

The Staff Selection Commission is a central recruiting body under the Department of Personnel and Training. It runs written and computer-based exams for Group B and Group C posts that ministries then fill. CHSL is the 10+2 level exam. It is not a bank exam, not a state PSC exam, and not a campus walk-in.

If you are still in Class 12 or have just finished it, this is one of the few all-India government windows that does not ask for a degree. The form still has a cut-off date. Passing “sometime later” is not enough.

What kind of role this is

These are regular Group C posts in central ministries, departments, constitutional bodies, statutory bodies and tribunals. Posting is all-India as allotted after the exam. There is no bond printed in this notice. Pay is Level-2 for LDC/JSA and Level-4 or Level-5 for DEO posts.

LDC/JSA work is file movement, noting, typing and desk work. DEO work is data entry at a required speed. The Commission allots the post from your merit and your preference list. Once a post is allotted, the notice says it will not be changed because you later fail a physical standard for a specific user department such as BRO.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you will hold Class 12 or an equivalent certificate on or before 07 October 2026, you will be 18–27 years on 01 August 2026 (born not before 02-08-1999 and not later than 01-08-2008, plus the printed relaxations), and you can sit two computer-based papers plus a qualifying typing or skill test.

Skip if you need a specified DEO seat in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, SSC or the Ministry of Culture and you did not pass Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics. Skip if you are counting on a fake “ssc-recruitment” domain. Skip Border Roads Organisation seats if you are not a male candidate who can meet the BRO physical and medical annexure.

Appearing students may fill the form. The Class 12 certificate must still exist on 07 October 2026. The notice is clear on that line.

Educational qualifications

Selection

1. Tier-I computer-based examination (dates to be notified).
2. Tier-II computer-based examination. Section-I covers Mathematical Abilities and Reasoning and General Intelligence with a one-hour paper and a 30-minute sectional timer on each part. Computer Knowledge and Skill / Typing tests in later sections are qualifying.
3. Document verification and medical standards of the user department after allocation. BRO has a separate physical annexure. Posts once allotted are not swapped if you fail that annexure.

There is no interview on this notice. Multi-shift scores are normalised as per the Commission notice dated 02-06-2025.

How to apply without getting played

1. Open only ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app from Google Play. Old ssc.nic.in One-Time Registration does not work on the new site.
2. Finish One-Time Registration, then the CHSL-2026 form, then the ₹100 fee if you are not exempt. Fee last date is 08 October 2026, 23:00 — one day after the form close.
3. If the printout says “Incomplete”, SSC did not receive the fee. That form is rejected. Save the payment status page.
4. Use the correction window on 14–16 October 2026 if a field is wrong. Do not wait for a WhatsApp apply link.
