Official Details

CLAT 2027 admission is the Common Law Admission Test run by the Consortium of National Law Universities for the 2027 cycle. Last date to submit and pay — 31 October 2026, 11:59 pm. Apply only on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. UG instructions and PG instructions are on that same site. This is not AILET. AILET is only for National Law University Delhi.

What the Consortium actually does

The Consortium of National Law Universities conducts CLAT and then runs a common counselling for seats in member NLUs. The 2027 instructions pages print 26 NLUs. A rank here is an entrance score, not a seat. A seat comes only after counselling, document check and fee payment on the official portal.

If you are in Class 12 or in the last year of LL.B., read this page as a form checklist. CLAT is a pen-and-paper test. It is not an interview and not a college-level entrance run by one campus.

What kind of seat this is

Two programmes sit on the same window. UG is the five-year law degree at NLUs. PG is the one-year LL.M. at NLUs. The exam date is the same Sunday for both. The Consortium will not allot NRI or NRI-sponsored seats. Those seats, if a university offers them, are handled by that NLU directly.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are an Indian national, NRI, PIO card holder or OCI card holder and you want an NLU seat through the common test. The UG instructions page says the Class 12 result must be submitted at admission, failing which you are ineligible for the course you applied for. PG candidates should match the LL.B. rule on the PG instructions page before paying.

Skip if you are a foreign national. The instructions say foreign nationals are not eligible to appear for CLAT. Skip if you only want NLU Delhi — that campus uses AILET, not CLAT. Skip any WhatsApp “seat confirmation” that asks for a fee outside consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The printed application fee is non-refundable and non-adjustable.

1. CLAT 2027 UG — five-year law at 26 NLUs Common test

Eligibility criteria
Indian nationals, NRIs, PIO card holders and OCI card holders may appear. Foreign nationals may not. The qualifying examination is Class 12. The result has to be submitted at the time of admission. The general-instructions block we opened does not print a Class 12 percentage cut. Read the eligibility section on the Consortium site before you pay. No category-wise seat split is printed on the instructions page.

2. CLAT 2027 PG — one-year LL.M. Same exam day

Eligibility criteria
PG uses the same close date, the same exam clock and the same fee slabs printed above. The PG tie-break on the instructions page is higher age, then a computerised draw of lots. The UG tie-break is higher marks in Legal Aptitude, then higher age, then a computerised draw of lots. No category-wise vacancy split is printed on this notice.
