AcSIR January 2027 admission is the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research call for the January 2027 session. Last date to apply is 31 October 2026. Portal: acsir.res.in/admissions. Brochure: January 2027 brochure. Advertisement went out on 10 September 2026. The portal opened the same day.
What AcSIR actually does
AcSIR is an Institution of National Importance. The degree is awarded by AcSIR. The lab work sits in associated institutes: CSIR labs, ICMR labs, and some DST institutes. You do not join a normal college classroom. You join a research institute that has agreed to take students this session.
This is not a CSIR scientist recruitment and not a project JRF advertisement by itself. A fellowship route exists inside the admission. The form fee is separate.
What kind of seat this is
PhD in Science (biological, chemical, physical, mathematical and information, agricultural), PhD in Engineering, PhD in Medical Research (only at ICMR institutes, MAX-SMAIR and TIGS), and IDDP (MTech plus PhD). The brochure also lists MSc, MTech, MPH, MHQM and PG diploma. One application per programme. You may file more than one programme if you are eligible, each with its own form.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you have the degree percentage and a valid route: national fellowship, institutional fellowship at a listed institute, project staff, or industry sponsorship. Science PhD: master’s at 55%, or a 4-year bachelor’s in science or engineering at 75%. Engineering PhD: master’s in engineering at 55%, or 4-year BTech at 75%. IDDP: 4-year BTech at 55%, with GATE or GPAT if you want the CSIR-GATE JRF route. SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Differently-Abled and EWS get 5% relaxation.
Skip if you have no fellowship, no project post, and no sponsor, and the programme you want does not list a self-sponsored GATE/JEST route. Skip medical research if you are not aiming at an ICMR institute, MAX-SMAIR or TIGS. Skip a second form for the same programme. Only one application per programme is allowed.

Eligibility criteria
Two-year master’s or equivalent with at least 55%, or a 4-year bachelor’s in science or engineering with 75%. Five percent relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Differently-Abled/EWS. Routes: national fellowship (CSIR, ICMR, UGC, DBT, RGNF, INSPIRE), institutional fellowship at listed institutes, temporary project staff, or industry/institute sponsored.

2. PhD Engineering Institute-wise
Eligibility criteria
Master’s in engineering or technology at 55%, or 4-year bachelor’s in engineering or technology at 75%. Same 5% relaxation. Routes include national fellowship, self-sponsored with JEST/GATE, institutional fellowship at DST-ARIES, project staff, and sponsored candidates.

3. PhD Medical Research ICMR / MAX-SMAIR / TIGS
Eligibility criteria
MD/MS/MCh/DM from an NMC-recognised college, or a master’s in a relevant field at 55%, or MBBS/BDS/MDS at 55%, or a 4-year bachelor’s in a relevant field at 55%. Same 5% relaxation. Tenable only at ICMR institutes, MAX-SMAIR and TIGS.

4. IDDP (MTech + PhD) Institute-wise
Eligibility criteria
Four-year bachelor’s in engineering or technology at 55%, with 5% relaxation. CSIR-GATE JRF route needs a national fellowship with GATE or GPAT. Industry and institute sponsored candidates are a separate route.
