Official Details
CAG internship scheme 2026 is the Headquarters circular dated 07 July 2026. September’s form has already closed. The next live window is 1 to 20 October 2026. Apply only on training.cag.gov.in/InternForm.aspx. Full HQ circular — cag.gov.in PDF.
If you are still in Class 12, this page is not an application for you. CAG wants college students who have already finished (or sat) the second year of a bachelor course, or a first year of a postgraduate course. Read the three bands below before you open the form.
What CAG actually does
The Comptroller and Auditor General of India is the country’s top public auditor. The office checks how the Union and State governments spend money. An internship here is office work on audit files, data and briefing notes — not a paid DRDO lab intern and not a PSU officer job.
This page covers only the Headquarters scheme (circular of 07 July 2026). CAG also issued a separate field-office scheme the next day. Do not mix the two forms.
What kind of internship this is
Unpaid attachment. Minimum four weeks, maximum six months. You sit in a functional wing at CAG Headquarters or at one of the listed cities. There is no bond printed on this circular. There is no application fee printed. The circular says the internship is “on unpaid basis”.
This is not a government job. Finishing the internship does not create a right to appointment in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you are a bonafide student of a recognised university in India or abroad and you match one printed band:
- Undergraduate: you have completed or appeared in the second year / 4th semester, and you have not less than 80% or equivalent in Class 12.
- Postgraduate / research / PhD: you have completed or appeared in the first year / 2nd semester of PG, or you are pursuing research or a PhD, and you have not less than 60% or equivalent in graduation.
- Fresh graduate waiting for higher studies: cumulative marks so far are not less than 60%, and the gap between the result month and the internship month is not more than six months.
You also need original marksheets and a college No Objection Certificate at joining, a soft copy of the NOC with the form, and your own laptop. You should not be registered for a course that needs class attendance during the internship dates.
Skip if you need a stipend this month (use DPIIT, NCCS or a DRDO paid intern instead), you cannot sit in New Delhi / Mumbai / Bhopal / Chennai / Bhubaneswar / Guwahati / Rajkot, you cannot produce original marksheets and an NOC at joining, or someone is selling a “CAG intern seat” off training.cag.gov.in.
Class 12 students and first-year bachelor students do not match the printed UG band. Do not force the form.

Selection
- Submit the form on training.cag.gov.in between the 1st and the 20th of the month. State an area of interest.
- Capacity Building Wing maps the profile to a functional wing within 10 working days.
- Head of the functional wing decides suitability. That decision is final.
- If too many apply for one domain, CAG may tighten the cut, limit the number called, and choose the screening mode.
How to prepare (free, official)
How to apply without getting played
- Wait for 1 October 2026 if you are applying for the October window. The circular only takes forms from the 1st to the 20th.
- Open only training.cag.gov.in/InternForm.aspx. Do not pay a third-party “CAG intern fee”.
- Upload the soft copy of the college NOC with the form. Keep original marksheets ready for joining.
- Write a real area of interest that matches audit, accounts, data or a printed domain. Vague “governance enthusiast” lines do not help the mapping step.
- Save the acknowledgement. Placement, if any, is communicated after the wing mapping — not on the same day you click submit.
