What IIIT-Delhi actually does
IIIT-Delhi is a state university established under the IIIT Delhi Act, 2007. It runs BTech, MTech and PhD programmes focused on research and interdisciplinary work, on the Okhla campus in New Delhi. This notice is only for the Winter Session PhD regular round — not the Monsoon (April) cycle and not the MTech seats.
What kind of seat this is
These are full-time research seats. The institute FAQ states that the PhD programme is full-time and a part-time option is currently not available. Regular students who join are considered for Institute Fellowship. Campus is in Okhla, New Delhi. You must be able to work full-time on the research problem.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you meet the discipline-wise minimum eligibility printed on the official page, you have research aptitude (especially fresh BTech graduates or holders of UGC/CSIR JRF, DST INSPIRE or DBT Fellowship), and you can work full-time on the Okhla campus.
Skip if you need a part-time or sponsored-external seat (the FAQ says part-time is not available), you do not meet the printed marks line even after the 5% SC/ST/PH/CW relaxation, or you want a taught MTech without a research commitment.
