NITI Aayog internship September window closes 10 Sept 2026

The NITI Aayog internship September window is the 1–10 calendar slot NITI actually accepts applications in. Today is 9 September 2026. The official line is 1st (00:00 hrs) to 10th (23:59 hrs) of every month. If you want a September or near-term start, finish the form on niti.gov.in/internship before that clock, not after a coaching poster tells you it is “open all year.”

This is unpaid policy work inside NITI verticals. It is not a stipend internship and it is not a campus placement PPO. Read the scheme page and the guidelines PDF on the same official domain. If those pages disagree with this article, those pages win.

Who this window is for

NITI’s public scheme text is for undergraduate, postgraduate and research students enrolled in recognised universities in India or abroad, plus a narrow recent-graduate path in the guidelines. Typical public summaries of those guidelines (verify on the PDF, not on this page) have used marks floors and year-of-study floors. Do not invent a CGPA. Open the guidelines from the internship page and tick your own row.

• Application door: 1st 00:00 to 10th 23:59 every month. Miss the 10th and you wait for the next month’s 1st.
• Duration on the public scheme: minimum about six weeks, maximum about six months. Your offer letter, if any, sets the actual dates.
• Stipend: treat it as unpaid unless your own letter names a rupee figure and a payer. Public write-ups and the ISTI summary describe no stipend, no travel, no DA. Bring your own laptop; they describe workspace and internet.
• Certificate: public text ties a completion certificate to attendance (often described as 75%). No attendance record, no paper that a placement cell will accept.
• NOC from college is commonly required at joining. Start that letter now if your office takes a week.

Track status only on the official track link from the same NITI internship page. Technical form issues go to NIC at the address printed there (nic-niti at gov.in), not to a Telegram “NITI intern 2026” group.

What you do this week

1. Open the official internship page and the guidelines download. Tick eligibility yourself. If you are still in first year UG, stop. The scheme has used a two-year / fourth-semester floor for undergraduates.

2. Write one short SOP that names a vertical you can actually help (education, energy, health, data, rural, urban — only if your coursework matches). A generic “I want to serve the nation” paragraph is how forms get ignored.

3. Keep marksheets, ID and a college ID scan readable. Unreadable uploads stall the file. Do not pay anyone to “submit on your behalf.” NITI does not charge an application fee on the official page.

4. If you need rent money in week one, this is the wrong internship. Use the stipend check in internship stipend actually paid before you treat any other listing as cash.

Who should skip

• You need a monthly credit to stay in Delhi. This scheme is described as unpaid.
• You cannot give six weeks without missing a mid-term you cannot redo.
• You have not finished the year-of-study floor in the guidelines.
• Someone is asking for a registration fee, a WhatsApp “selection,” or your original documents as a deposit.
• You already have a paid lab or company internship whose first credit date is in writing.

A NITI line on a CV is useful if you can show a briefing note you actually wrote. It is not useful if you drop out in week three because the city cost more than the certificate.

Other clocks this month — do not mix them

GATE 2027 registration is a different form, on a different domain. Organising institute is IIT Madras. Dates have already been revised once. Read only gate2027.iitm.ac.in/important_dates for the regular vs extended close. Coaching blogs still quote older 21 September / 30 September pairs. Indian nationals need a verified DigiLocker account before GOAPS will fetch name, DoB and ID. That is not the NITI form.

DPIIT and PM Internship Scheme cards on the Campus Reality homepage are also separate payers and separate portals. A NITI submit does not apply you there.
