IIT Delhi PhD MSR admission 2026-27 is the Semester II call for PhD and MS(R). The foreign-national portal is open now. Last date for foreign submission is 29 October 2026. The national portal opens on 9 October 2026 at 12:00 noon. Apply from academics.iitd.ac.in/pg-admissions. Login: ecampus.iitd.ac.in/IPGADM/login. What IIT Delhi actually does here

IIT Delhi is a central institute in Hauz Khas. PhD is a research degree. MS(R), written on the page as M.S.(R), is a research master’s, not the two-year MTech that comes through COAP after GATE. Semester II means the January side of the academic year 2026-27, not the July batch that already started. The information brochure for this semester is not on the page yet. The institute says it will be uploaded shortly. Until that PDF is up, do not copy eligibility from a July brochure or a coaching site.

What kind of seat this is

Two portals, one cycle. Foreign nationals, including OCI and PIO card holders, can apply now as foreign candidates with financial support. National candidates wait until 9 October 2026, 12 noon. A person who did the qualifying degree in India and is applying as a foreign candidate must also meet the national-exam rule the page prints: GATE, JAM or the exam the international page names.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you want PhD or MS(R) at IIT Delhi for Semester II and you can wait for the brochure before you treat a percentage as final. Foreign applicants can start now and must submit by 29 October 2026. Indian applicants should open the national portal on 9 October at noon, then read the brochure the same day if it is up.

Skip if you wanted MTech through COAP, or a faculty job, or the July 2026 batch. Skip if a site asks for a “Delhi PhD token fee” on a domain that is not iitd.ac.in. Application fee is not printed on the PG admissions page we opened on 8 October 2026.

How to apply without getting played

1. Start at academics.iitd.ac.in/pg-admissions. Do not use a mirrored “iitdelhiadmission” domain.
2. Foreign applicants: submit by 29 October 2026. If your degree is from India, keep the GATE or JAM card ready.
3. National applicants: do not pay anything before 9 October, 12 noon, and do not pay until the brochure fee line is visible.
4. Save the acknowledgement. There is no Campus Reality fee.
