Official Details

MAT December 2026 admission is the All India Management Association test used by private and other business schools to screen MBA and PGDM applicants. Paper-test registration closes 14 December 2026. Computer-test registration closes 21 December 2026. A clock time is not printed. Register on mat.aima.in. The candidate note is on aima.in.

What AIMA and MAT actually do

AIMA is a private management association, not a college. MAT does not give you a seat by itself. It gives you a score. You pick institutes on the form, and AIMA sends the score there. The December note says you can send the score to 5 institutes on one mode, or 7 if you take both paper and computer modes. AIMA also says some institutes that joined the bulletin later refused the score. Check the college before you pay MAT, and again before you pay that college.

The Ministry of Education approved MAT as a national test in 2003. It has been run since 1988, four times a year: February, May, September and December. Score validity on the AIMA page is one year. If you sit more than once, the page says the best score is accepted. This page is only the December 2026 window.

What kind of seat this is

There is no campus seat on this form. You are buying a test attempt. The test is 120 minutes, 150 questions, five sections of 30. Cities are on the MAT site, not fixed to one college. A bond is not printed because this is not a job or a course enrolment.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are a graduate in any subject, or in the final year of a graduate course, and a college you actually want still takes MAT for its current cycle. The December note does not print a minimum percentage.

Skip if your target institute has already closed its own form, or if it never accepts MAT. Paying AIMA does not open SPJIMR, MDI or an IIM. Skip if you only need CAT. Skip extra attempts if you already have a MAT score inside the one-year window and the college accepts the older score. AIMA warns that a listed institute can still reject the score. Confirm on the institute site.

How to prepare (free, official)

How to apply without getting played

  1. Register only at mat.aima.in. AIMA is not a seat seller.
  2. Pay Rs 2,300 for one mode or Rs 4,000 for both. Save the form number.
  3. Pick institutes only after you have read their own last date and whether they take MAT this cycle.
  4. Download the admit card yourself. Do not buy a “slot change” from a stranger. The note says you follow the date and time on the card.
  5. After the score, apply on the college site if that form is still open. The MAT fee is not the college fee.
