NIT Warangal PhD admission December 2026 opened on 1 October 2026. Last date — 14 October 2026. A clock time is not printed on the date block. Apply on admissions.nitw.ac.in. Brochure: phd_dec_2026.pdf. This is the PhD round. The Visvesvaraya postdoctoral form on the same portal closes on 12 October and is a different notice.

What NIT Warangal actually does

National Institute of Technology Warangal is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, in Warangal, Telangana. Most students meet it through JoSAA for B.Tech. This page is only the December 2026 PhD admission. It is not the closed M.Tech spot round and not an internship.

A PhD application here is a department form plus a fee. If you apply to two departments, the portal note says you register and pay again. The institute fellowship is Rs 37,000 a month for two years, then Rs 42,000. That is not the fee. The fee is Rs 1,000 or Rs 500.

What kind of seat this is

Full-time and part-time PhD. Departments printed: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Computational Data Science, Biotechnology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Humanities and Social Science, and Management Studies. Seat total is not printed. The brochure says seats follow available PhD vacancies. Date changes, if any, will be posted only on nitw.ac.in/adm.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you meet the department mark bar. Engineering: 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC-NCL, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD, with B.Tech/B.E. and M.Tech/M.E. in the relevant branch, or the B.Tech-only route printed for Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Metallurgical, Chemical or Computer Science. Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry): Master’s at the same 60%/6.5 and 55%/6.0 bar. Humanities and Social Science: Master’s in English at that bar. Management: Master’s or equivalent in Management, Social Sciences, Commerce, a 2-year PGDM, M.Tech, Entrepreneurship Management, MSc Statistics, CA, CS or ICWA, at the same bar. GATE, UGC-CSIR-NET and GPAT are not mandatory for full-time and part-time candidates in the categories the brochure names.

Skip the institute-fellowship track if you are over the age cap on the notification date: 30 years for GEN/GEN-EWS, 33 for OBC-NCL, 35 for SC/ST/PwD/Female. Skip full-time if you cannot leave your job. The brochure says no working professional is admitted as a full-time scholar unless relieved, with a relieving letter and NOC. Skip part-time if you wanted the Rs 37,000 fellowship. Part-time does not get it. Do not use this form for the Visvesvaraya PDF. That close is 12 October.
