What the Competition Commission of India actually does
CCI is the market regulator under the Competition Act, 2002. In plain words, it looks at deals and behaviour that can hurt buyers — for example a merger that may wipe out choice, or companies that agree to keep prices high. It sits at 9th Floor, Office Block 1, Kidwai Nagar (East), New Delhi 110023. Board phone on the site: 011-24664100.
An internship here is not a job offer and not a seat in a law college. You sit in the Commission office, read a competition-law topic, and write. The guidelines say the point is to show students how competition law actually works.
What kind of internship this is
It is an in-person student internship at the CCI office in New Delhi. It normally starts on the first working day of the month and runs for one month. You can ask for two calendar months only if your college recommends that longer period. The guidelines also allow a request for two or three months with a college recommendation. No bond is printed. No application fee is printed. Honorarium is ₹15,000 per month.
Each month there will be up to 15 interns. CCI may relax that number in a month where more applicants have good research topics on competition law. No category-wise vacancy split is printed on this notice.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you are an Indian student in one of these printed bands, you can sit in New Delhi for December 2026, and your college will sign the recommendation:
- Law: second and third year of a 3-year LL.B. after graduation, or fourth and final year of a 5-year integrated law course. Students who have taken the third-year exam and are entering the fourth year are also named.
- Economics: MA or MSc (Economics), or fourth and final year of a 5-year integrated degree in Economics.
- Management: MBA.
- Regulatory governance: MA or MSc (Regulatory Governance).
- Professional courses: final group of Chartered Accountancy, Cost Accountancy, or Company Secretary.
Skip if you are still in Class 12, first year of a 5-year law course, or first year of a 3-year LL.B. Those years are not in the printed list. Skip if you cannot get a recommendation from the competent authority of your college — forms without it are not entertained. Skip if you need work from home, or if someone asks you to pay a “CCI intern token”. The only apply path printed is the online form on cci.gov.in.

Selection
- You submit the prescribed form online on cci.gov.in only. Email and post copies are not the printed path.
- The form must include the college recommendation. Without it, the application is not entertained.
- You attach a Statement of Purpose of about 200 words: topic and objectives of the study.
- CCI can take up to 15 interns that month, or more if the research topics on competition law are strong. The guidelines do not print a written test or interview stage.
How to prepare (free, official)
- Guidelines and application form (revised March 2020)
- Specimen of a completed application and SOP
- CCI internship page
- Competition Act material on cci.gov.in — read one merger or cartel order so the SOP is about a real topic, not a slogan.
How to apply without getting played
- Open only cci.gov.in/internship/form. Ignore Telegram “CCI intern seats” and any UPI request. No fee is printed.
- Get the recommendation on college letterhead from the competent authority before 1 November 2026. A form without it is rejected.
- Write the SOP in about 200 words. Name the topic and what you want to study. Do not paste a coaching-site sample.
- Submit so the application reaches CCI by 1 November 2026. The printed example uses 1 November for a December month.
- Save the acknowledgement. The November 2026 page on this site is a closed window. Do not reuse that form for December.
