What CSIR-NCL actually does

CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, is a research institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. CSIR is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Science and Technology. The lab sits on Dr Homi Bhabha Road, Pune 411008. This notice is not a scientist recruitment. It is for Multi-Tasking Staff who keep sections running.

The work printed on the advertisement is physical maintenance of section records, general cleanliness and upkeep, carrying files and documents, photocopying, delivering dak, opening and closing the section or room, dusting furniture, preparing and supplying tea or coffee to officials and guests, and other work assigned by a superior.

One post, post code MTS-01, Level-1 of the 7th CPC pay matrix (Rs 18,000–56,900). The advertisement puts approximate total emoluments at Rs 40,000 on the minimum of the scale, including house rent allowance in a Class X city. That figure is an estimate on the notice, not a promise of take-home pay. Vacancies are provisional and may increase or decrease.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you are an Indian citizen, you have passed SSC, 10th or matriculation or an equivalent exam, and you will not be over 25 years on 4 November 2026. Intermediate or 12th is only desirable, not essential. The cut-off date for age, qualification and category claim is the last date of the online application, 4 November 2026.

Skip if you wanted a research post, a chemist seat, or a city other than Pune. Departmental candidates and people already in government get no fee exemption. SC, ST and OBC (NCL) candidates who apply against seats not reserved for them do not get age relaxation for that seat, though the fee exemption still applies if they are otherwise eligible. OBC means the central list, non-creamy layer, certificate for financial year 2026-27 in the format for posts under the Government of India. A state-format OBC certificate can drop you to unreserved.

Fee once paid is not refunded and is not adjusted against another exam. Payment attempts are limited to six. If a payment stays unresolved, wait 20 minutes before a new attempt. The lab asks candidates not to wait until the last hour.

3. Document verification of the certificates uploaded with the form, including the prescribed SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, PwBD or ex-serviceman format.

Age relaxation beyond 25 years, as printed: SC/ST 5 years; OBC (NCL) 3 years; PwBD (UR) 10 years; PwBD (OBC) 13 years; PwBD (SC/ST) 15 years. Ex-servicemen get 3 years after deducting military service from age on the closing date; 6 years for OBC and 8 years for SC/ST after that deduction. Widows, divorced women and judicially separated women who are not remarried: up to 35 years for UR/OBC, up to 40 years for SC/ST. Other relaxation is as per Government of India, DoPT and CSIR rules.

How to apply without getting played

1. Open recruit.ncl.res.in. Do not pay a coaching centre to “submit the NCL form”.
2. Pay Rs 500 only if you are UR, OBC or EWS. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen pay nil. A government employee does not get that exemption.
3. Upload the category certificate in the central format. Save the acknowledgement. Do not post a printout to Pune.
