DU PhD admission 2026 is open for the 2026-27 session. The last date to register online is 18 October 2026. University of Delhi has released a Bulletin of Information. Apply only on phd2026.uod.ac.in. Every number below is from the published summary of that bulletin.

About University of Delhi

University of Delhi is a central university. This PhD window is for regular research programmes across departments and centres. It uses national test scores plus an interview. It is not a fresh entrance exam conducted by DU itself.

Nature of the programme

You join as a research scholar. Coursework and thesis work follow the department rules. There is no fixed university stipend printed on the registration form. Any fellowship comes from the national award you already hold.

Who applies and who skips

Apply if you have a Master’s degree with at least 55% (or M.Phil. with 55%) and a valid UGC-NET / CSIR-NET / GATE / CEED or similar score (December 2025 and June 2026 scores are accepted). 5% relaxation is printed for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD/EWS. A 4-year UG degree route needs 75% in some cases. Skip if you are already in another full-time programme, if your national score is not valid, or if the subject you want has no seats left in the phase you are targeting.

Dates and fee

Registration opened 6 October 2026 and closes 18 October 2026. Interviews at departments: 21 October to 31 October 2026. DRC/BRS recommendation till 10 November 2026. Fee payment by selected candidates till 15 November 2026. Registration fee: Rs 750 for UR/EWS/OBC-NCL; Rs 300 for SC/ST/PwBD per programme. Non-refundable.

Available positions

Seats are filled in two phases: Phase I (60% of seats) and Phase II (40% of seats). Exact department-wise numbers are in the Bulletin of Information. No single national total is printed in the short notices. Check the bulletin before you choose a programme.
