What IRCTC East Zone actually does

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd is a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways. The East Zone office is in Kolkata (5th Floor, Duckback House, 41 Shakespeare Sarani). These seats are apprenticeship training seats for FY 2026-27, not regular IRCTC jobs. After the 12 months you are released. You have no claim to employment in IRCTC.

Nature of the role

12 months of skill-building training. Place of work can be any East Zone office: Zonal office Kolkata, Regional offices Guwahati or Patna, or Area offices at Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol, New Jalpaiguri, Ranchi or Tatanagar. You must be willing to train at any of them. Stipend is ₹12,300 a month for Graduate Apprentice and ₹9,600 a month for COPA. No application fee.

Who applies / who skips

Apply if you meet the age on the cut-off date 09.10.2026 (completed 15 years and not completed 25 years; SC/ST +5, OBC +3, Ex-Servicemen +10, Differently abled +10) and the qualification for the trade you choose. Graduate Apprentice: Graduate in any discipline with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised university. COPA: Matriculation and ITI certificate in Computer Operator & Programming Assistant affiliated to NCVT/SCVT, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised board.

Skip if your marks are below 50%, your age is outside the band on 09.10.2026, or you need a permanent railway job. Also skip if you are not ready to train at any East Zone location. IRCTC has not appointed any agents — do not pay anyone who claims to help you get selected.

2. Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) — ₹9,600 / month [10 Vacancy]
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Matriculation and ITI certificate in COPA affiliated to NCVT/SCVT. Minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognised board. Age: completed 15 years and not completed 25 years as on 09.10.2026 (relaxations as above). Duration: 12 months.

No category-wise vacancy split (UR/OBC/SC/ST/EWS/PwBD numbers) is printed as a seat table on the notice we opened. Reservation as per Government of India guidelines is applicable. Seat numbers may increase or decrease; changes are uploaded on the IRCTC website.

Educational qualifications

Selection stages

Merit list prepared on the basis of percentage of marks. There is no written test and no viva. If two applicants have the same marks, the older applicant is preferred. If dates of birth are also the same, the applicant who passed matriculation earlier is considered first. Final selection is subject to verification of original testimonials. Stand-by list candidates are offered only after absentees and rejected candidates from the merit list. Offers are issued strictly in order of merit. Apply steps

1. Register on the correct portal: NATS for Graduate, Apprenticeship India for COPA.
2. Fill marks of educational / technical qualifications starting from matriculation. Attach year-wise mark sheets and pass certificates while applying.
3. Name, father’s name and date of birth must exactly match the matriculation certificate. Any deviation at document verification cancels the candidature.
4. Submit by 26 October 2026. Incomplete applications are rejected.
5. Keep two additional copies of the same recent photograph (3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, JPG, 20–70 kb, clear front view, no cap or sunglasses) for document verification. No TA/DA for document verification.
