nit-calicut-phd-winter-semester-dec-admission-2026 is the Ph.D. Winter Semester (Dec) 2026-27 call at National Institute of Technology Calicut. Last date for online application — 27 October 2026, 10:00 AM. Apply on research.nitc.ac.in. Detailed brochure — nitc.ac.in PDF.

What NIT Calicut actually does

NIT Calicut is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education. It runs BTech, BArch, MTech, MPlan, MSc, MBA and PhD programmes on the campus at NIT Campus P.O., Calicut (Kozhikode), Kerala. This notice is only for the Winter Semester PhD seats starting around December 2026 — not the Monsoon (July) window and not regular MTech through CCMT.

What kind of seat this is

These are research seats under six schemes printed in the brochure: full-time with institute or government fellowship, full-time self-sponsored, full-time sponsored by industry or an organisation, internal registration for NIT Calicut staff, and two external part-time routes. Campus is in Kozhikode, Kerala. Institute fellowship is available only on Scheme I seats that the department allots, and only if progress rules are met.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Apply if you have a relevant Master’s (or a high-CGPA BE/BTech for the Direct PhD route) that meets the printed 6.0/5.5 or 7.5/7.0 CGPA lines, you can travel to NIT Calicut for the offline selection process in late November, and you understand which scheme you are applying under.

Skip if you want a taught MTech seat, you cannot appear in person for the entrance and interview (Schemes I and II), you do not meet the experience years for the sponsored or part-time schemes, or you are looking for a pure online PhD with no campus contact.
