Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It runs PG and PhD programmes at three campuses: Jais (UP), Bengaluru, and Sivasagar (Assam).
The Even Semester 2026-27 PhD window covers engineering, science, and management disciplines.
Nature of the role
Full-time PhD with institute assistantship or project support. External, sponsored, and part-time categories are also open for working professionals.
Who applies / who skips
M.Tech/M.E. with at least 60% or 6.0 CPI, or B.Tech/B.E. with 75% or 7.5 CPI in relevant discipline.
Relaxations of 5% marks/0.5 CPI for professionals with 2+ years experience; additional 5% for SC/ST.
GATE not mandatory for B.Tech from RGIPT/CFTIs or certain high-ranked institutes, or for Master’s from government-recognised institutes.
