What Central University of Punjab actually does
Central University of Punjab is a central university set up under the Central Universities Act, 2009. The campus is at village Ghudda, Bathinda. Its territorial jurisdiction is the whole of Punjab. The July 2026 PhD intake is a regular and part-time doctoral admission, not a job notice and not a seat-selling form.
The university tied this cycle to UGC notification F.4-1/2019(NET/NTA)/C.No.90413 dated 31 August 2026. That is why the window was reopened after the UGC-NET June 2026 result. An earlier line that said the last date was “extended until further orders” is replaced by 11 October 2026.
What kind of seat this Central University of Punjab PhD admission 2026 is
This is a PhD seat for the academic session 2026-27, July 2026 intake, at Bathinda. Regular scholars may get a fellowship route. Part-time scholars do not. There is no bond printed in the extension notice.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if you have a master’s degree with at least 55% marks, or 50% if you are SC, ST, OBC (NCL) or PwD, from a recognised Indian or foreign university, and you have a UGC-NET June 2026 result that fits one of the three categories in the prospectus. Programme-wise degree names are in the prospectus table (Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and other departments).
Skip if you only have a bachelor’s degree, if your NET result is still not out, or if a coaching site is asking for a “registration charge” outside cupadm.samarth.edu.in. Do not pay anyone who claims they can hold a CUP seat.
