IIT Guwahati PhD admission December 2026 — portal opens 8 October

IIT Guwahati PhD admission December 2026 is not open yet. The academic admissions page says admissions to the PhD programme for the December 2026 session will commence on 8 October 2026, and the application portal will be activated the same day. Announcement date on the page: 8 September 2026. Official page: iitg.ac.in/acad/admission. Portal named: iitg.ac.in/admission. A last date, a fee, a department list and an eligibility line are not printed on that announcement.

What IIT Guwahati actually does

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is an Institute of National Importance in Guwahati, Assam. B.Tech seats go through JEE Advanced and JoSAA. This note is only the December 2026 PhD window. It is a research registration, not a campus placement and not an internship.

A December session means you would join later in the academic year, not in July. Until the portal opens, there is no form to fill and no fee to pay. Anyone asking for money before 8 October is not the institute.

What kind of seat this is

PhD for the December 2026 session. The 8 September line does not say full-time or part-time, and it does not name departments. Do not treat a coaching list of departments as the official roster. The portal, once live, is the roster.

Who should apply — and who should skip

Wait, then apply if you want a PhD at IIT Guwahati in the December 2026 session and you can check the portal on 8 October. Keep a degree certificate, category certificate and any GATE or NET score ready, but do not assume those documents are required until the form says so.

Skip this page if you needed a form that closes this week. NIT Warangal PhD closes on 14 October, IIITDM Kurnool on 18 October, and the Visvesvaraya cards at IIIT Pune and ABV-IIITM Gwalior on 9 October. Those are different institutes. Skip if a site claims the Guwahati last date is already fixed. It is not on the announcement we opened.
