National Institute of Fashion Technology is a statutory institute under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. It runs design, technology and management programmes in fashion and related fields. Admissions for 2027-28 are through the NIFTEE conducted by NTA, followed by e-counselling by NIC.
What kind of role this is
These are regular full-time academic programmes (4-year UG, 2-year PG, and PhD). They lead to degrees, not direct jobs. Campuses are spread across India. Academic session for 2027-28 runs roughly August 2027 to May/June 2028.
Who should apply — and who should skip
Apply if
You have (or are appearing for) Class 12 from a recognised board for B.Des or B.F.Tech. B.F.Tech needs Mathematics.
You hold a Bachelor’s degree for M.Des, M.F.Tech or MFM.
Your age is under 24 years on 1 August 2027 for UG programmes (or you are eligible for the 5-year relaxation).
You can complete the online form, upload photo/signature, and pay the fee before the deadline.
Skip if
You are above the age limit for UG and do not qualify for relaxation.
You cannot meet the Mathematics requirement for B.F.Tech.
You are looking for a job or stipend rather than a degree programme.
Your documents (photo, signature, certificates) are not ready in the required format.

1. B.Des / B.F.Tech (UG) — 4-year degree
Eligibility
Class 12 or equivalent (NIOS with five subjects, recognised diploma routes accepted).
B.F.Tech requires Mathematics.
Age under 24 years as of 1 August 2027; 5-year relaxation for SC/ST/PwD/PwBD.
2. M.Des / M.F.Tech / MFM (PG) — 2-year degree
Eligibility
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university, or specified NIFT/NID diploma routes.
No age limit.
3. PhD / NLEA / Artisan category
Eligibility
Separate last dates and rules apply (Artisan and PhD often till 31 January 2027).

Selection
Stage 1: General Ability Test (GAT — CBT) and Creative Ability Test (CAT — pen-and-paper) on 10 January 2027 across ~100 cities.
Stage 2: Situation test / interview / portfolio as applicable to the programme.
e-Counselling and seat allotment by NIC on nift.admissions.nic.in.
Does this lead to a permanent job? No. These are degree programmes. Placement support exists at NIFT campuses but is not guaranteed.
